After qualifying as a teacher in 2013, I have spent a number of years working with many learners with Special Educational Needs and Specific Learning Difficulties. I have experience teaching from EYFS through to year 6 and have taught in both mainstream and specialist settings and have a master’s qualification in ‘Special and Inclusive Education’. I have experience as a SENCO, SEND (special educational needs and disabilities) multi-academy trust lead, deputy head teacher and more recently working for local authority as a deputy service manager for SEND. In addition, I decided to train as a specialist SpLD teacher and assessor to provide a high-quality, professional yet friendly service to both parents and education providers and qualified in 2024.
My approach to teaching, learning and assessing is holistic and student-centred.
As a Dyslexia Specialist Assessor, I assess and diagnose Dyslexia both in children and young people as well as supporting dyslexic learners through one-on-one tuition using multisensory teaching methods. I receive referrals from primary and secondary school establishments and private referrals.
In additional to my work as a Dyslexia Specialist Assessor, I am able to offer training and advice for schools and parents in relation to SEND. This could include support and training for SENCOs or parents submitting a parental request for an EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan). Please note this does not have to be dyslexia specific.
